Abstract

Cold Spring Construction’s work on the 390/490 interchange and Lyell Avenue in Rochester consists of three separate contracts tackling four phases of work. The first contract and phase one consisted of bridge rehabilitation work on several of the interchange bridges as well as a full replacement of the Lyell Ave bridge over 390. The second contract and phase concentrated on the north bound corridor of 390 and its interface with 490 east and west. In addition, Lyell Avenue east of 390 was widened and resurfaced with all new drainage and lane alignment. The third and final contract, phases 3 and 4, is an ongoing design build project which focuses on the south bound corridor and the stretch of Lyell Avenue west of 390. Along with extensive heavy highway work and four new bridges to be constructed, these projects also included more than 2.5 miles of new noise wall along the outsides of the urban highway corridor.
